ABOUT THE GSP
The GSP is a versatile hunter with great powers of endurance.  He is capable of high performance in the field or in water.  He has been successfully used for hunting quail, pheasant, partridge, grouse, ducks and other fowl, as well as racoons, possum, foxes, rabbits and other furry critters.  He has also been successfully used for trailing wounded deer.

The GSP is highly intellegent and alert.  He is easily trained and possesses a strong desire to please.  He makes a loving and loyal companion and watchdog.  However, the GSP is not for everyone.  This is NOT a breed for an apartment or a small living space.  The GSP is strong, active and full of energy.  He requires plenty of fenced in space, lots of exercise and should have plenty of constructive activities, preferably revolving around his owner, or he will find outlets for his energy elsewhere.  A bored GSP can be very destructive.  Some GSPs can be strong willed and, as with any breed, training should begin at an early age to prevent bad habits.

If you have the time and patience to properly train your dog, the space required for proper exercise, and plenty of time to devote to him everyday, the GSP can be a wonderful addition to your family that will provide you with years of joy and companionship.
